How to Clean your Radiation Protection Apron

The Importance of Cleaning Your Apron

According to an article published by AORN, Periop Nursing Team Discovers Ringworm in X-Ray Garments; hospital staff complained of how “smelly” and “gross” their X-Ray radiation protection garments were. After further investigation, they discovered that the garments were carrying the highly contagious fungus, Ringworm. The staff quickly realized how serious this contamination issue was and addressed and implemented a regular cleaning schedule for their lead aprons and other wearables. During their routine cleanings, they would use Hydrogen Peroxide wipes to remove the unwarranted bacteria. The Periop Nursing Team then placed a high emphasis on “doing the right thing for patient and staff safety” by integrating this comprehensive x-ray garment cleaning and servicing program.

Infab Corporation understands the threat and magnitude that sanitation plays within radiation protection gear, so we created our signature line of cleaning products. Cleaning your apron should be done regularly and thoroughly to promote a sterile work environment.

Which Products Should You Use to Clean Your Apron?

Many cleaners deteriorate the color and the core material. Over time, this may also cause tearing or holes, which compromises the safety of the individual wearing the garment.

INFAB cleaning products focus on disinfection while maintaining the integrity of the garment. Our cleaners will not harm or deteriorate your garments and have been tested thoroughly with many applications.

INFAB offers Revolution Scrubbles Lead Apron Cleaner, Clorox Hydrogen Peroxide Cleaner Disinfectant Spray, and Clorox Hydrogen Peroxide Cleaner Disinfectant Wipes.
